Sudbury, ON – It’s going to be wall-to-wall LEGO® at Science North this weekend as the science centre opens its new special exhibition: LEGO® Adventure: It’s what you make it! Master Model Builders from the United States (there’s only about 50 in the whole world) will be on hand Saturday October 8 and Sunday October 9 to build a giant 10 foot tall LEGO robot right before visitors’ eyes!

Visitors will be able to play all day with one of the world’s most popular toys as they wander through a LEGO “wonderland” featuring several large Egyptian-themed sculptures including a pyramid and a model of Tutankhamen, and a kid’s play area featuring Dora the Explorer, Bob the Builder and Thomas the Train. The older set (adults too!) will have a blast creating their own animations and music and using their imagination to build their best LEGO creation. Visitors will also be able to take part in special Weekend Workshops to win great LEGO prizes. The LEGO Adventure exhibition is broken down into the following fun areas:

Master Model Builders (October 8 & 9 only)
Watch Master Model Builders officially kick off LEGO Adventure by building a giant 10’ tall LEGO robot right before your eyes. The entire process will be captured on video and played back as a cool ‘time lapse’ video loop.

Pharaoh’s LEGO Kingdom
Fascinated with ancient Egypt and the marvels of engineering that this ancient civilization was able to pull off? Wait until you see the intricacies involved in building LEGO recreations of a pyramid, sarcophagus, model of Tutankhamen and more!

Pharaoh’s LEGO Photo Opp
Don’t leave without getting your picture as the face of an intricate Egyptian sarcophagus!

Kids’ DUPLO Play Area (ages 2 – 6)
Your child will have an absolute blast playing with DUPLO – specially made LEGO bricks twice the size of regular LEGO. They’ll be talking all the way home about the creations they made with Dora the Explorer, Bob the Builder and Thomas the Train DUPLO. They’ll be mesmerized by the Dora and Bob LEGO sculptures that are as tall as they are!

Toddlers’ QUATRO Play Area (ages 0 – 1)
Too little to play with DUPLO? Then QUATRO is for you! These specially designed bricks are four times the size of regular LEGO – perfect for toddlers who love playing with blocks.

LEGO Building Blocks (for kids of all ages!)
You’ve never seen so much LEGO…and your LEGO Adventure experience is limited only by your imagination! Build a LEGO creation at the building tables and take a photo to show all your friends!

Team LEGO Building Station
Don a headset, sit opposite your buddy and give them directions on how to build something…there’s only one catch – you can’t see each other! Will you be able to provide precise enough directions to ensure your LEGO creation doesn’t turn into a disaster?

LEGO Digital Designer
Design your very own 3D LEGO project on the Digital Design software, print your parts list and bring it to life by building it!

Animation Station
Direct your own LEGO movie by building a LEGO ‘movie set’ – then use stop-motion animation to bring the story to life!

Virtual Piano
Use the LEGO Vision Command Software to play the Virtual Piano – you and LEGO will make beautiful music together!

In honour of the official launch of LEGO Adventure, Science North will have extended hours on Saturday and Sunday only, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. LEGO Adventure is included with science centre admission.
