CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY TO OPEN THIS SATURDAY
Classic Roald Dahl novel is larger than life on the giant IMAX screen
SUDBURY, ON â Audiences will have the opportunity to further satisfy their sweet tooth when Charlie and the Chocolate Factory opens at the Science North IMAX Theatre Saturday, October 1. Digitally re-mastered into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (digital re-mastering) technology, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, based on the classic Roald Dahl novel, is larger than life on the giant five-storey IMAX screen at Science North.
Director Tim Burton brings his vividly imaginative style to the classic story about eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp) and Charlie (Freddie Highmore), a good-hearted boy from a poor family who lives in the shadow of Wonkaâs extraordinary factory. Five lucky children, including Charlie, draw golden tickets from Wonka chocolate bars and win a guided tour of the legendary candy-making facility that no outsider has seen in 15 years. Dazzled by one amazing sight after another, Charlie is drawn into Wonkaâs fantastic world.
âCharlie and the Chocolate Factory is a story that stirs the imagination,â said director Tim Burton. âSo much of it is larger than life. The immersive IMAX format adds its own dimension to the sense of wonder that comes from stepping inside Willy Wonkaâs fantastic world and realizing the genius of Roald Dahl.â
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is the sixth IMAX DMR film release from Warner Bros. Pictures. The large 15/70 film frame, combined with the IMAX projection technology and remarkable sound system, will provide audiences at the Science North IMAX Theatre with an extraordinary cinematic experience.
