SUDBURY, ON â Summer is winding downâ¦and thereâs only a few days left to catch three exhilarating giant-screen IMAX® adventures at the Science North IMAX Theatre:
NASCAR: The IMAX Experience â ends September 5
Put yourself in the driver’s seat and experience speeds of more than 322 km/h (200 mph) with the magic of IMAX. NASCAR: The IMAX Experience briefly takes fans into reverse to review the history of the nation’s most revered sport, told from the viewpoint of some of its legendary drivers, and then moves into high gear with a look at the thrilling phenomenon that is NASCAR today. Featuring the most competitive and skilled drivers and race teams in the world, this film captures the behind the scenes aspects of a sport that has unique family qualities.
Young Black Stallion â ends September 5
A dramatic feature made specifically for the giant screen. Walt Disney Pictures is proud to present the continuation of a family favourite and a story that has enthralled generations of readers. Young Black Stallion, a prequel to the 1979 classic, presents the horse’s adventures with a young girl named Neera. The original writer and producer of The Black Stallion have returned for this production, which will bring giant-screen audiences the wonder, excitement, and magic of Walter Farley’s equine hero as they have never seen it before.
Coral Reef Adventure â ends September 8
Created by the Academy Award®-nominated producers of The Living Sea and Everest, Coral Reef Adventure is a groundbreaking underwater journey that brings to life the true beauty and diversity of this precious ecosystem. The film features both healthy and dying coral reefs found in Australiaâs Great Barrier Reef, Fiji, Tahiti and Rangiroa. The filmâs strong conservation message highlights, among other things, the fact that problems such as over-fishing, over-development and global warming have already decimated coral reefs, and threaten to destroy these important ecosystems unless the global community takes more action to protect them.
Also Playing: Adrenaline Rush: The Science of Risk
Adrenaline Rush: The Science of Risk explores the innards of risk taking in a wide and spectacular way. From the soaring and breathtaking cliffs of Norway to the calm and inspiring immensity of the Mojave Desert, from Thomas Edisonâs laboratory to a simple American schoolyard, Adrenaline Rush is more than a thrilling visual experience, itâs an invitation to explore our inner selves and a statement that there is no such thing as having little courage.
All these films are brought to life by a five-storey screen and 7,600 watts of digital wraparound sound. Science North IMAX films are sponsored locally by the Travelway Inn. Media sponsors are MCTV, The Sudbury Star, and 105.3 EZ Rock.
